Hijab, Allah’s Commandment, FOMWAN Tells Muslim Women
Worried by several reasons given by muslim sisters for not wearing hijab, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association’s of Nigeria (FOMWAN), has stressed the importance of hijab, saying it is Allah’s commandment.
Amirah (President) of FOMWAN, Rivers State Chapter, Alhajia Memunat Bello at the 2019 World Hijab Day in Port Harcourt described the refusal to wear hijab by some muslim sisters as ignorance.
She said, “hijab is compulsory by all Muslim sisters. Those who use several excuses to avoid wearing hijab do not understand the doctrines of Islam.”
The state Amirah of FOMWAN also took a swipe at some female muslim leaders who wear transparent hijab, adding that such practice was wrong.
According to her, “hijab is not meant to be transparent. I urged my fellow muslim sisters not to emulate the wearing of transparent hijab from those who claimed to be highly placed.”
“I think this is where we need to sensitize our young ones. Some say hijab gives them body hit which is not true. Muslim parents should endeavour to teach their children from cradle to see the wearing of hijab as part of their lifestyle,” she said.
