Belemaoil’s Education Largesse Excites SUG
The recent provision of N100 million scholarship grants to indigent Rivers students and youths to enable them pursue their education successfully by Belemaoil Nigeria Limited, Port Harcourt has excited President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, Comrade Elvis Gogo.
Speaking with The Tide last Monday in Port Harcourt, Gogo said it was a thing of joy to notice such magnanimous gesture as exhibited by the oil company. According to him, the first of its kind in the history of oil firms operating in Nigeria, describing the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr Tein Jackrich, Jnr as “a development lodestar of modern generation.”
Gogo maintained that the company was able to create 12,000 jobs for the teeming jobless graduates and other indigent youths, as well as the payment of such grant for 374 students, adding that despite the provision of scholarships and other grants to Nigerian students and youths, the company went further to provide multiples of infrastructural development in various communities in the state.
He said that Mr Jackrich and his firm deserved encomiums for uplifting the lost hope of Rivers students and youths, especially in this period of economic recession in the country.
The student leader, however, stated that the chief executive officer of the company also ensured that promise made during the Rivers State 50th anniversary celebration was fulfilled, by sending the contestants of Miss Rivers State Beauty Pageant abroad for their masters degree programmes as a way of developing the girl-child and also showing the importance of educating the girl-child.
