New NUJ Boss Inaugurated, Resumes Office In Bayelsa
The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Samuel Numonengi has formally received hand over note from his predecessor, Comrade John Angese.
At a brief ceremony held at the NUJ press centre Yenagoa, on Monday, Comrade Numunengi assured his erstwhile boss of an open door policy as he is willing to accommodate all shades of opinions and suggestions on how best to move the council forward.
The new NUJ helmsman highlighted some of the new policies he hope to introduce and called on the former NUJ council boss to make inputs capable of changing the present narrative of members.
Comrade Numunengi hinted that his administration would formally inaugurate the NUJ State Advisory Council, comprising all former NUJ chairmen, as constitutionally stipulated and informed that the out gone chairman is automatically, a member of the advisory council.
Earlier, Comrade Angese had expressed confidence in the ability of Comrade Numunengi to run the affairs of council and wished him well in his three year reign.
The Bayelsa State council election of the NUJ took place last week Thursday November 1st and the incumbent chairman, Comrade Numunengi, who was the immediate past Vice chairman defeated his former chairman in a keenly contested poll by a lone vote.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
