RSG Recommits To NYSC’s Ideals
The Rivers State Government has declared that it would continue to give the National Youth Service Corps scheme maximum support towards the attainment of its objectives.
The government also assured that it would provide conducive environment for corps members posted to the state to carry out their assignments without let or hindrance.
The state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike made the declaration in an address at the closing ceremony of Batch B, Stream 2, Orientation Course for corps members posted to Rivers and Akwa Ibom States at Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, last Monday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of Secretary to State Government, Sir Chidi Adiele, Wike urged the corps members to pursue the realisation of the goal of the scheme, which was to foster unity and integration among the diverse ethnic nationalities of the nation.
The state governor, who reiterated that his government was passionate about the security of corps members posted to all parts of the state, urged them to endeavour to utilise the opportunity of the service year to empower themselves through the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training which they received in the course of the orientation programme.
Wike urged corps members to allow the lessons of sacrifice, selfless service, and discipline learnt at the orientation programme to serve as a guide to set them out as they face life outside the camp.
