UCDC Boss Tasks CDC On Development
The United Community Development Committee (UCDC), Rivers State has called on the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Ahoada-West Local Government Area to initiate policies that would transform the community and empower the youths positively
The Co-ordinator of UCDC, Mr John Chidiebere Onwubualili, who said this at the inauguration of members of the CDC at the local government secretariat, Akinima urged them to be prudent and transparent while discharging their duties.
Onwubualili said they have taken oath of serious responsibility and therefore, should work in unity and strength in order to bring development to their community.
While cautioning against any form of embezzlement, the state coordinator noted that Rivers State Government would not hesitate to dissolve any committee that operates below standard.
He further admonished them to discourage jungle justice, as it was against the rule of law, stressing that all infractions should be forwarded to relevant security agencies within the LGA and the state.
The state coordinator commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the high level of developmental projects he has executed since assuming office.
He also announced that a one-day conference tagged “Celebration of Grassroots Government of Chief Nyesom Wike’’ would be held in Port Harcourt as part of efforts to appreciate the good governance feats of the administration.
Also speaking, Chairman of Ahoada-west, Hon. Hope Ikiriko urged members of the committee to come up with the investment ideas that would help grow the wealth of the community.
Ikiriko warned them against competing for attention, but urged them to get involved community development endeavours and work with all diligence.
According to him, “the council is ready to support proposals from the CDC, to fast-track development across the community and neighbouring communities.”
He further called on them to work with the law enforcement agents in order to maintain peace and harmony.
“We must work with the law enforcement agents, and make sure that the right information is given to them. Maintaining peace can also be gotten from dialogue’’, he said.
Speaking, the Coordinator of Ahoada-West CDC, Mr. Ogadinma Amadi Jeremiah thanked the LGA Chairman, Hon. Hope Ikiriko, and urged the UCDC to have focus and common goal to ensure the development of the grassroots.
Jeremiah called on the state government to improve security, and involve youths in skills acquisition to minimise youth restiveness, among others, while pledging to work hard, ensure transparency and unity in order to attract development in Ahoada-West.
