The ongoing National Housing Programme (NHP) of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing is also designed to suit physically challenged persons in the country, the Zonal Director, North-Central zone, Julius Olurinola said.
Olurinola made this known recently in Gwagwalada when he led a delegation of the ministry to inspect the level of work done on the project in FCT.
According to The Tide source that the FCT NHP project site is located at Dukwa, Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.
“The housing construction is being designed to take care of different categories of Nigerians. ‘’There is provision of ramp to ease the movement of the physically challenged people.
Olurinola, who is the Director of Engineering Services of the ministry, noted that the pilot project, aimed to bridge the housing deficit would be completed in six months.
One of the project contractors; Leo Chao, said that the project had three condominiums consisting of 24 units of flat with total of 72 housing units.
Chao said that with quick dispensation of fund, the project which was 40 per cent completed, would be completed in due course.
Meanwhile, artisans employed in the on-going housing construction in the site have commended the Federal Government for creating jobs and integrating them through the project.
A labourer at the site, Okabua Joseph, thanked government for giving the artisans opportunity to engage in the housing construction to earn a living.
“Before now I was learning plumbing work, but with this present job, I receive N2, 000 daily, it is really helping me to cater for my family.
A supplier of building materials such as cement, rod and some other tools Mr Abude Frank, expressed delight that his life had improved since he got the contract.
Miss Shuaibu Nefisat, a food vendor, also commended government for enabling her to use the location to sell food and ensured her a means of livelihood.
“I make between N20, 000 to N30, 000 on daily basis, this has made my family to remain thankful to me as a sole provider.
Our source reports that the road infrastructure of the project is 95 per cent completed and provision for potable water of between 45,000 and 75,000 litres, to serve the occupants of the housing when completed.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
