While receiving the members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the competition at the conference room of the university on Thursday, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniy Ambali, said that the institution accepted to host and also support the tournament as part of its community service.
He added that the institution would do everything to beef up the image of the state by hosting a perfect competition.
Ambali said that the ‘Better by Far’ university was making efforts to improve on its sporting facilities to boost participation in sports.
He pointed out that the institution’s squash court was under construction, while a standard size swimming pool would be added very soon.
“Last year, the University hosted the National Youth Games, and will be hosting the third edition later in the year.
“We see that as a product of our collective efforts with the state government, to make the university unique.
“I want to, on behalf of the university, thank Kwara state government for providing our students the facilities and the right atmosphere to train.
“For us, there is therefore, nothing too much for us to promote sports”, Ambali said. Earlier, the Chairman of the MOC, Mr Kale Ayo has solicited the support of the institution in hosting the competition and providing the facilities to deliver a good competition.
He commended the institution for its giant strides in sports development and thanked JAMB for providing the platform to further unite the youths through football.
