Killing Of Four: Andoni, Bonny Vow To Support Investigation
The traditional rulers of Andoni and Bonny Local Government Areas of Rivers State have resolved to support the security agencies to unravel the mystery behind the killing of four persons by unknown assassins at Otobie and Ererekiri in Bonny Kingdom.
In a communiqué jointly signed by the traditional rulers of the two kingdoms, they also resolved to give all the necessary support to the ongoing police investigation into the abduction of a boat driver of Andoni extraction at Bonny Island and whose where about is still unknown.
It would be recalled that four persons were reportedly murdered and several injured by unknown assassins on May 18, 2017 at Otobie and Ererekiri communities in Bonny Kingdom.
The brutal killings which involved the father of a Director in the RSSDA, Mr Larry Pepple, was said to have resulted in an alleged destruction and abduction of a commercial boat operator from Andoni by angry youths.
These incidents, The Tide gathered, further instigated a threat of war by irate youths of both Andoni and Bonny, who before now lived as one in a local government area.
In the light of this, the traditional rulers, stakeholders as well as the council chairmen of both local government areas have condemned the act and described it as barbaric, just as the traditional rulers have warned the people against taking laws into their hands, saying that, what happened in Otobie and Ererekiri as well as the abduction of the boat driver was an act of criminality and not on behalf of Bonny and Andoni Kingdoms.
The royal fathers also warned against linking the incidents to inter-communal crisis, saying that Andoni and Bonny have no pending issues that could lead to such crisis.
Meanwhile, the council chairmen of Andoni and Bonny Local Government Areas, Chief Allen Jonah and Hon. Simon E. Hart respectively have condemned the killings and the abduction of the boat operator in Bonny Island.
