Workers Day: JUSUN Tasks RSG On Promotion
The Rivers State Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Comrade Sokari George has called on the State government to urgently address the implementation of civil servants promotion in the State.
Comrade George made this appeal while speaking on the sidelines of the Workers Day celebration held in the state at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia in Port Harcourt last Monday.
He commended workers especially members of the union for coming out in their numbers to celebrate this year’s Workers Day despite the economic hardship.
The JUSUN State Chairman and the South-South National Deputy President noted that efforts made by the leadership of the union to meet with the management of the State Judiciary to sit on a round table on the implementation of the promotion has not been given due attention, adding that he was optimistic that the management of the judiciary will listen to the executives and meet with them.
According to him, the benefits of members who were promoted in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 have not been implemented, adding that even those who are due for this year’s are also not sure of the implementation.
The South-South National Deputy President of the union also alleged that the management of the State Judiciary transferred all the executives of the union from the head office to other areas to cripple the activities of JUSUN in the State.
Sokari commended members of the union for their support to the executives despite the intimidation from the management, adding that the executives will not abandon the mandate given them.
He called on them to continue to discharge their duties effectively and added that the JUSUN executives in the state will continue to protect their rights and promote their welfare at all times.
The State JUSUN boss used the opportunity to charge the management of the State Judiciary to begin recruitment of new staff in the service, adding that it would reduce the work load of his members.
