Restructure Nigeria, Activist Tells Buhari
A Niger Delta activist and Elder statesman in Rivers State, Rev Sokari Soberekon has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to put in place processes towards the restructuring of the country.
Soberekon, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said that restructuring the country will create opportunity for all sections of the country to harness their resources for their development.
The elder statesman said that, the present system has failed the nation as millions of Nigerians continues to retrogress into abject poverty.
He regretted that, Nigerians can no longer get 24 hours electricity supply, while millions depend on boreholes and sachet water as source of drinking water.
The elder statesman also decried lack of good health facilities across the country as well as the continued rise in criminality, adding that something urgently needs to be done to take the country out of this woeful condition.
He also called on the President to replicate the Almajiri Schools built byformer President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the south to cater for street children who are now becoming a menace to the society.
Soberekon also commended Governor Nyesom Wike for organizing a befitting burial for Late Captain Elechi Amadi, who was the first administrator of Port Harcourt.
He also stressed the need for the government to put in place measures towards celebrating elder statesman who are alive.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
