CP Tasks PCRC On Crime Prevention

lice, Rivers State, Mr. Francis Odesanya has declared open the two-week Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) training in Port Harcourt with a charge to direct their energies in efforts to curb crime and criminality, promote peace, law and order as well as support development.
Declaring the training open at Rivers United playground, Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt, Odesanya said the training was designed to enable the PCRC members know the do’s and don’ts of the body.
The State Police boss, who was represented by the Deputy Commissions of Police, Cyril Okoro, reiterated that the police would remain friendly to PCRC members, who are number one stakeholders, adding that they would partner with them to ensure community policing and security.
According to him, the training is not a Jamboree but to impact knowledge on members, and therefore enjoined them to regard the training as very crucial because of its importance, and wished them the best in their training.
Also speaking, the National Organising Secretary of PCRC, Austin Young, noted that the training would avail both members and non-members of PCRC fore-knowledge on the operations of PCRC as well as equip them to know their responsibilities, pointing out that by this training, crime in the various communities would be reduced.
In his speech, the state chairman of PCRC, Mr. Casca Ogosu, reiterated the importance of the training, the Peace touch and the “walk 4-life” initiative opined that members who failed to participate would have their I.D. Cards withdrawn.
Members and non-members from all the police Division in Rivers State are participating in the training.
