2,000 Benefit From Rotary Free Medical Outreach
Over 2,000 indigenes of
Rumuokwuta, Ozuoba and Orazi communities, all in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, have benefitted from the Free Medical Programme organised by the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Gateway District 9140.
President of the club, Rotarian Atagbebhuno Peters, who disclosed this during a free medical outreach in Orazi community also said that free drug distribution has been carried out by the club within its catchment areas.
Peters said that apart from the free medical outreach, the club has given out free mosquito nets to children and pregnant women, while exercise books have been donated to schools within the area.
He said that, sanitation exercises have been carried out in Orazi community, while plans are underway to provide water to Demarillae Home for street children in Diobu.
The Club’s President also said that a bill board which advocates peace has been constructed at Obiri Ikwerre Flyover.
Peters said that the programmes are part of the commitment by the club to promote good health, quality education and ensure peaceful and harmonious co-existence among residents of the area.
He said that, the club will continue to identify areas of need of the various communities in Obio/Akpor with a view to providing solutions to them.
Peters commended the communities for their support and stressed the need for youth in the area to imbibe the virtue of peace and harmonious co-existence.
Speaking, a beneficiary, Mrs Beatrice Elo, thanked the club for the gesture, and urged other clubs withint he area to emulate Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Gateway by also reaching out to the people.
Other beneficiaries, Mrs Abigail king, commended the club for the gesture, while Mr David Olorife also urged the club to sustain the gesture.
