Customs Redeploys 69 Comptrollers
The new Customs Area
Controllers recently redeployed to the various commands by the management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have formerly assumed duties at their various post.
The Tide gathered that the Comptroller General of Customs, Hammed Ali approved the redeployment of 69 commands headquarters in Abuja and zones of the Nigeria Customs Service.
It was learnt that the handing over ceremonies at the various commands were brief and in low key, while the new Area Controllers have pledged to improve on their revenue generation and key into the agenda of the Customs Comptroller General, Hammed Ali.
Speaking with newsmen soon after the handing over, the new Area Controller in-charge of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Willy Egbudin had promised to put in his best to ensure that the command’s revenue target was achieved.
Egbudin expressed optimism that there would be improved cargo-through-port at Lagos Port and increased revenue collection as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directive on forex policy comes into operation.
It was gathered that Comptroller Bashir Yusuf, who was formerly in charge of ICT unit at the customs headquarters, Abuja, is now the new controller in charge of Tin Can Island Command, while Olubiyi Ola who was redeployed from Lilypond Command now heads PTML command as Victor Dimka takes over Seme command.
The redeployment was part of the reform processes to give the service new direction and improved revenue collection.
