Rivers NUJ Mourns Nimengoka
The Rivers State council
of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has condoled with the family of her late colleague, Mr Kio Nimengoka, who passed on recently. The union also empathised with the Today News Now (TNN) chapel where, until his death, the late Nimengoka was the Production Editor, and Secretary of the Chapel.
As we mourn the death of Nimengoka, we are reminded of his astuteness to union activities, and commitment, especially his unprejudiced contributions to key union issues when consulted or when the need arose.
He is indeed a role model of sort to the NUJ, one from whom up-coming journalists would have gained a lot, hence his services to the union will be greatly missed.
“We can only pray for his soul to rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
Meanwhile the Rivers State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated with our colleague, Mr. Segun Owolabi over his recent promotion the position of Business Manager, South by Silverbird Communications.
As a body, we are not surprised by the elevation of Mr. Owolabi, going by his commitment to his job and his genuine adherence to the ethics of Journalism as a profession at all times.
“We believe that Mr. Owolabi’s elevation will not only spur him to bring to bear his wealth of experience in the broadcast media, but will also enable him further extend the professionalisation pursuit of the NUJ in his relatively wider scope of operation. This is one area the present executive of the Rivers State council holds dearly.
We urge Mr. Owolabi to never be deterred in his strict adherence to the ethics of the profession, knowing that the union looks up to him as one of its veritable ambassadors.
