SEEFOR: RSG Pledges Transparent Implementation
The Rivers State Government has pledged to observe transparency in the implementation of the World Bank/European Union Assisted State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR) programmme.
The Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol said this at the unveiling of the coordinator of the State Integrated Financial Management System (SIFM’s) subcomponent of public finance management reforms component of SEEFOR in his office.
Dr. Kpakol said that the government was desirous of ensuring that the programme had positive impact on the people and described information as very critical element in the overall achievement of the programme.
He assured the SIFM’s Coordinator, Mr. Robert Mkpagi of the readiness of the ministry to work with him adding that the ministry was opened for any suggestion that would ensure the effective implementation of the programme.
Also speaking, the state Coordinator of the State Employment and Expenditure for Result Programme, Mr. Kelcious Amos, described the State Integrated Financial Management System (SIFM’s), sub-component of the project as very crucial to the overall implementation of the project, adding that it was against the background that the government advertised both locally and internationally for capable hands to coordinate the sub-component.
Mr. Amos said that, apart from ensuring accountability in the overall implementation of the SEEFOR Programme, the situation would ensure the people of Rivers State benefited maximally from the programme.
He also assured the coordinator who is of Ugandan nationality of the preparedness of staff of the agency to work with him.
Speaking, the newly unveiled coordinator, Mr. Robert Mpaji, said that he was bringing his 15 years wealth of experience to bear on the job.
Mr. Mpagi, who said that he has undertaken similar jobs in Uganda, Namibia, Rwanda, Malawi, Kenya and Taozania, however called for teamwork, adding that the overall success of the sub-sector would depend on partnership and support from all and sundry.
