Group To Hold Conference On Child Dev
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which caters for orphans and other vulnerable children Lifetime Caring International Foundation (LCIF), is billed to hold a two-day national conference on child development.
According to the founder of the Foundation, Lucky Suanu Abaadan, the overall aim of the Conference, scheduled to hold from November 17 to 18, 2015, is to contribute to the on-going debate on Child Development in Nigeria.
Abaadan, who spoke to The Tide recently in an exclusive interview in Port Harcourt, said that in pursuing this aim, LCIF would strive to achieve targeted objectives.
Such objectives, he continued, include discussion on the current state of affairs on the implementation of national policies and frameworks on children in Nigeria, as well as share best practices on the implementation of children’s right, welfare and development programmes by relevant actors.
He said the conference would at the end of the day, develop and adopt a national declaration on strategic research and policy options for child wellbeing and development in Nigeria.
He further explained that the Conference, with the theme: “Child Development and Wellbeing” would be used as a “platform to discuss challenges affecting Nigerian children.
“It will bring together policy makers, academics and researchers, practitioners, NGOs and children to discuss current research in the field, policy challenges and opportunities for the implementation of child relevant policies at local, state and national levels”, he said.
