Pilgrims Board Insists On Self Sponsorship
Chairman of the Rivers State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (RSCPWB), Mrs Biobele Odesola, has restated the need for Christian organisations to explore the possibility of sponsoring their members on pilgrimage.
Mrs Odesola made the statement in Port Harcourt during a courtesy visit by the Christian In-Politics Mandate Group.
According to the chairman, the era when government sponsored large number of Christians to the holy land of Israel was over, pointing out that the new position of government on self-sponsorship is informed by the current economic challenges in the country.
She however, reiterated that despite the economic situation, the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike had accepted to sponsor few persons in this year’s exercise, adding that the board is disposed to assisting individuals and organisations interested in the exercise.
The Chairman lauded the organization for its interest and concern in the affairs of the state, adding that God always rewards good work and thanked them for the visit.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Pastor John Gabriel-Pepple had congratulated fhe chairman on her appointment and wished her well in all her endeavours.
In his vote of thanks, the secretary of the board, Ven. Richard N. Okpara thanked them for seeing the work of the board as a worthy duty in God’s vineyard.
