I Know There’s God -Wike

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo (right), presenting some gift items to Rev. Sister, Jane Raphael, during a charity visit to the Home for the Elderly at Harbour Road, Port Harcourt, on Friday.
The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has restated his faith in God.
He made the re-affirmation yesterday at the interdenominational thanksgiving and dedication service at Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre to mark his 100 days in office.
Wike recalled that the immediate past Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on his 50th birthday at the same venue, boasted that he (Wike) will not have funds to pay salaries and run his government, but is happy today that God has made it possible for him to pay salaries and even do more.
His words: “My administration is anchored on God. We cannot do anything without seeking the face of God; with the help of God, Rivers State will move forward.”
The governor restated his commitment to the completion of any project abandoned by the previous administration, especially if they have direct and positive impact on the people of Rivers State.
The state chief executive explained that so much funds were allocated to constructing roads, noting that a good road network will leave a good impression on any person coming into the city for the first time.
Wike, who vowed to fulfill all promises made to the 23 LGAs, said he will also rehabilitate and equip old secondary schools in the state because they are in a deplorable state.
Wike who thanked God for blessing him-considering his humble beginning, said he will serve the people of Rivers State to the best of his ability when he said: ”I have promised to serve the people of Rivers State and make them happy. I owe it to them to give them the best because they deserve it. All I want are your prayers and support for my administration”.
The governor said he will not antagonize the church and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), but will rather build an Ecumenical centre where state interdenominational services will take place.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State chapter and General Overseer of the Royal House of Grace Church, Apostle David Zilly Aggrey, in his message titled, “God in the Affairs of Men” said, Governor Wike was ordained by God to rule Rivers State because he has a strong heart.
The apostle further declared thus: “From today, the people of Rivers State are delivered from economic and political slavery.”
He begged the state governor on behalf of the Rivers State clergy and Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), to hold on to God.
The renowned Minister of God, who does not want any confrontation between the clergy and the state government, enjoined the governor to channel all grievances against any pastor to CAN.
Highpoints of the event were intercessory prayers and the rededication of the state government and the people of Rivers State to God.
