The Rivers State Government has inaugurated an eight-member Committee to workout a blue print for the overall development of the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Kenneth Kobani, who performed the inauguration in his office in Port Harcourt, charged the Committee to conceretise the state government’s campaign promises into five priority areas for implementation in line with the vision of the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Kobani also charged them to develop some focal areas of the new vision campaign blue print as well as design strategies towards their implementation.
He described the situation of the state as a terrible condition, adding that it was against this background that the state government considers the committee’s assignment as very crucial.
The Secretary to the State government also said that the quality of members of the Committee was in line with the policy of the Nyesom Wike-led administration to ensure that the right persons were given the opportunity to contribute towards the development of the state.
He, however, charged the committee to complete its assignment in two months, and pledged the government’s readiness to support them.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, barrister Nimi Walson-Jack, thanked the government for considering them worthy for the assignment in view of the quality of members in the new Rivers vision team.
Walson-Jack assured that the committee will be dedicated to the assignment with a view to working out strategies that will take cognizance of the poor state of the economy and rebuilding Rivers State.
Other members of the committee are, Professor Ukalina Obuzo, Engr. Beinabo Horsefall, while the Permanent Secretary in the office of the SSG, Mr. Nuka Nwikpasi is to serve as Secretary.
The rest are, Professor Kaine Ebeku, Engr. Rowland Ibibara, Dr. A.J. Beredugo while Vincent Nwaordu will serve as recorder.
