‘Rivers Vulcanisers Need To Unify’
The need for members
of the Vulcanisers Association, Rivers State chapter to come together under one umbrella has been emphasised.
The Vice Chairman of the association, Mr Ebenezer Banleke made the assertion during a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt, recently.
Banleke, who is nursing a chairmanship ambition within the association said the body had for long been like an orphan, and promised to create new dimensions to rejuvenate its activities in the state.
According to him, he would go to all their members in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state and sensitise them on the need to have a common front that would project and protect all members and their welfare and progress in the business.
He frowned that some members are not aware of the current trend in the business as they under-charge their clients in course of doing their vulcanizing job, pointing out that as a result, some members could not afford to acquire latest equipments when the need arise.
The aspirant said if given the mandate, he would collaborate with government to bring the dividends of democracy to the association as they have been paying tax for the past 36 years in the state, and assured of their continued loyalty and support to the state.
In his remarks, the secretary of the body, Emmanuel Ekanem, said although the present executive had tried but there is need for another Exco to move the association forward and make changes.
The election of new executive is expected to hold next month.
