NURTW Urges Roads Construction, Rehabilitation
The Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo branch, Mr Tony Amadi, has appealed to the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to focus on the construction and rehabilitation of roads to ease vehicular movements in the state.
Making the appeal during an interview with The Tide shortly after the swearing-in of the governor in Port Harcourt, the NURTW Chairman said that many existing roads in the state capital and its environs have become unmotorable.
He noted that some communities had been cut-off from Port Harcourt because of the worsening condition of the roads, saying that deplorable nature of the road has made vehicular movement difficult and also stalled businesses and services in the areas.
Amadi, who drummed support for the new state chief executive, called on the people to join hands and work with him to enable the government provide the needed dividends of democracy for the electorate.
“We need all arms of government and the generality of the people to work together and rebuild the state because many things went wrong within the past four years of the out-gone administration.”
“All hands must be on deck and support Wike and the government with sincerity and honesty,” Amadi said, and pledged the unflinching support of the NURTW to the present administration.
Amadi who is aspiring for the vice chairmanship position for the forthcoming NKPOLU-Oro-worukwo Community Development Committee election, said God sent Governor Wike to correct the wrongs that were inflicted on the state, describing the out-gone governor Amaechi as the ‘Pharaoh’ of our time in Rivers State.
