FG Hails FRSC Over 27 Years Of Road Safety
The Secretary to Govern
ment of the Federation (SGF) Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, has commended the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for its efforts at ensuring road safety in the country since it was established 27 years ago.
Anyim made the commendation last Wednesday through Mr Ferdinand Agwu, a Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, during the 27th Anniversary celebration of the commission at its headquarters, Abuja.
According to the SGF, the FRSC had made unparallel strides toward making the roads safer for all road users in the country.
He said this had earned the nation global recognition in road safety delivery.
“The FRSC’s story started as most challenging but it has surmounted the challenges through commitment and focus to the admiration of all stakeholders.
“I enjoin other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to emulate this type of noteworthy gesture.
“I also assure you that the Federal Road Safety Commission will continue to enjoy the support of the Federal Government as long as it continues to focus on its mandate,” Anyim said.
Minister of Aviation and immediate-past Corps Marshal of FRSC, Chief Osita Chidoka, commended the officers and Marshals of the commission for cooperating with his successor.
He said the agency had been growing from strength to strength because of the commitment of the staff and urged them to do more in the interest of the nation.
Earlier, Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi attributed the achievements of the agency to the continuous support of the federal government and dedication of the personnel from inception till date.
“I commend the federal government for the vision shown in establishing the FRSC as a leading agency for road safety management and administration.
“The corps is also grateful to its pioneer leadership, former Chief Executives as well as retired chief executives and personnel who died while saving lives on the road,” he said.
The corps marshal also commended the various patrol teams, commands, zones and departments of the commission and gave awards to some of them, for their outstanding performance.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included: representatives of the Ministers of Finance, Works as well as a former corps marshal of the commission, Maj.-Gen. Anthony Hananiya.
