Ikwerre, Etche Mobilise Support For Amaechi
The People of Ikwerre and Etche ethnic nationality in Rivers State under the aegis of Ikwerre/Etche peoples forum have reinstated their continue support for Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-led administration in the state.
They are also mobilising for the actualisation of an Ogoni governorship mandate in the 2015 General Election in the state, even as they warned against another Ikwerre governor.
The National President of the group, Engr. Emmanuel Amadi stated this during the official inauguration of the Cordinators for the Six Local Government Areas, that make-up the Ethnic group held at the Anglican church, play ground, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of State, Sunday.
The Local Government Areas include, Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre Emohua, Etche and Omuma.
Engr Amadi while speaking said that governor Amaechi has done perfectly well in the state, deserving of commendation and support of every body across the 23 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the governor has done well in the areas of road construction, Health, scholarship, Construction of model primary schools and employment adding that if other states across the country performed as well as the governor has done, the issue of insecurity ravaging the country would have been addressed.
He stated that the organisation’s main objective is to promote good governance sustainability, equity, justice and fairness adding that the group supports any government that performs very well in the state.
“We are neither members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor the All Progressive Congress (APC) but a pressure group that fights injustice, promote equity and fairness”.
“We are supporting governor Amaechi’s government because it has done creditably well more than its predecessors.
The President of IEPE charged the local government areas Cordinators to commence a door-to-door campaign in their various LGAs with a view to mobilising grassroot support for the administration, adding that the organisation will follow the state governor wherever he goes in the 2015 general election.
Engr. Amadi however, urged the people of the state to support the governorship mandate of Ogoni people adding that the Ogoni’s have contributed immensely to the development of the state and the nation at large adding that the Ogoni’s are not slave in the state hence they deserve to be given the chance to governor the state.
“Since the creation of this state, the Ogoni’s have not produced governor, deputy, Speaker or Chief Judge but the Ikwerres, Kalabaris, Etches, Orashi’s Andonis, Opobo’s among others have either been governor, deputy, speaker, or chief Judge.
