Ikwerre Students Dissolve Executive Body
The Senate Council of
National Union of Ikwerre Students (NUS) world wide has dissolved the executive arm of the union following the expiration of their tenure of office.
A press statement signed by the Acting Senate President, Sen. Madah Emmanuel and the Acting Clerk, Sen. Ogbonda Chinedu said the dissolution of the NUS executive arm was decided after the sitting of the Council where the tenure of the exco and other issues affecting the union were deliberated upon.
The statement opined that the tenure of the executive arm of NUS has long expired after the mandatory one year constitutional provision for the tenure of the executive “The executive council shall stay in office for one academic year which shall be full session terminating at just about the time they were inaugurated, No member of the executive council shall re-contest the same position after leaving office”.
The statement however stated that without prejudice, that the tenure of office of the executive, the life span of their tenure can be extended subject to the approval by simple majority of the Senate present at the meeting at the time of sitting and voting adding that the executive arm neglected the senate arm.
Meanwhile, the NUS Senate arm has inaugurated a five man electoral committee that would plan for the election of a new executive arm of the union and would be inaugurated Monday next week.
Those to be inaugurated are, Mandah Enyindah, Chairman, Uniport; Oleka Endurance Okanezi, Secretary, Wobo Bright Eke, Coordinator, Rex Stephenson, member and smart Negi, member from RivCOTECH.
