Monarch Canvasses Decentralisation Of Companies To Rural Areas
The Paramount Ruler of
Iwoma Asarama in Andoni Local Govenrment Area of Rivers State, H.R.H Animisa Uriah A. Awafiote has called for a development strategy that will promote the establishment of companies in rural areas to congest the state capital.
Awafiote who made the call during a meeting with Chiefs and people of the community at Iwoma town, blamed the increase in criminal activities on the over crowding of people in the city.
He said centralization of companies in one area cannot promote development, and alleviation of poverty in the state would ever remain stagnant, especially in the rural area of the state.
He noted that many rural communities in the state had no presence of companies inspite of available resources and lack of infrastructure such as potable water, roads, hospitals and electricity, emphasising that it was because companies were not sited in those areas.
He said many companies were only concerned about the development of areas their offices and facilities were located without any consideration to where the resources are coming from. The Paramount Ruler called on the people of Iwoma communities to unite and enhance the development of their area.
Also speaking, the secretary of Andoni Area Council of Chiefs, Chief Promise U. I. Mborh commended the efforts of HRH Awafiote for the peace and development in the community.
He also called on the youths to shun cultism and devote themselves to activities that would promote peace and development in the state and the area in particular.
