Adamawa To Partner NGOs On Sanitation
The Adamawa Govern
ment has expressed its readiness to partner voluntary organisations and groups in ensuring an adequate sanitation across the state.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Arziki Sawa, said this in an interview in Yola, the state capital.
Sawa said the partnership would promote a clean and healthy environment for the benefit of the people.
She said that the voluntary organisations would be engaged in environmental sanitation programmes and other social responsibilities in rural and urban areas.
The commissioner described the regular end of the month sanitation exercise across the state as the most successful in keeping the environment clean.
She said that the exercise was introduced to inculcate cleanliness culture among the people of the state.
“The ministry doors are open to partners from voluntary organisations and groups, especially in keeping the environment clean for the benefit of the state and its citizenry.”
She said that the ministry was planning to introduce training, trophy and cash reward among the participating organisations to serve as encouragement to others.
The commissioner called on local government council chairmen in the state to introduce similar measures to encourage local organisations in their localities.
