Group Petitions IGP Over Insecurity In ABOLGA
A social-cultural group in
Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Abua/Odual Awareness Committee has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar and other security operatives in the country to intervene in the resurgence of insecurity that has claimed many lives in the area in recent times.
Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, last Thursday, the leader of the group, Chief Obaghama Dighobo Edum said the call was necessary because of the recent attacks and killing of innocent citizens of the area by political thugs in the area.
Chief Obaghama urged the police and other security agencies to urgently arrest the “drift to anarchy in the area” and carry out a full-scale investigations of the mindless killing and maiming to ensure that the culprits were arrested and prosecuted.
He disclosed that the communities in the area have lost their peace as they were under threat due to the sustained ignoble activities of hoodlums in the area.
According to him, terror reigns in the local government area alleging that the political thugs home been hired to suppressed their opponents in the area.
“The fact today is that terror reigns in Abua/Odual and life has become cheap. In any case, we are aware that the ugly incidents in the area are not new to the police”, he stated.
The leader of the group listed Okoboh, Aminigboko, Emago, Kugbo, Akanni, Iyak and Emillaghan communities as the worst affected in this attacks while assuring of the readiness of the group to assist the security operatives with useful information to assist in stamping out the inhuman acts in the area.
He urged the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the criminal activities and large cache of arms in the area and save the people from untimely deaths.
