Justices Of Peace To Honour The Tide

paper Coporation (RSNC), publishers of The Tide Newspaper is to be bestowed with a Partner in Peace Building (PPB) Award by the Association of Justices of the Peace, Rivers State during its forthcoming general meeting.
The meeting which has as its Theme: Deepening Peace To Engender Healthy Relationship: Role of Justices of the Peace” will hold on
November 21, 2013 at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, Port Harcourt.
Chairman of the Association, Deacon G.S. Bereiwariso who disclosed this during a courtesy call on the General Manager of the Corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo said that the assocation was highly impressed with the activities of the corporation since its inception.
Deacon Bereiwariso said despite being a government-owned media outfit, The Tide Newspaper had continued to exhibit high level of objectivity and fairness in its reportage, noting that this had gone a along way in enhancing peaceful co-existence among the different ethnic components of the state.
The Association Chairman who solicited the support of the Corporation towards the activities of the Association also commended the Judiciary for setting in notion the alternative dispute persecution mechanism and stressed the need for the abolition of technicalities on legal issues.
Responding, the General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr. Celestine Ogolo commanded the Association for recognizing the importance role The Tide is planning in the promotion of peace in the state.
Mr. Ogolo who was represented by the Director of Administration, Mrs Emi Jameson also said that “this is the moment when their roles as justices of the peace are needed most by the society”.
He also said that the Corporation would not relent in its campaign of sustaining peace in Rivers State and assured them of the Corporation’s support.
