Cleric Charges Nigerians On Patriotism
Pastor Joe Agbaje of the
Christ Embassy Church, Yenagoa, Pastor Joe Agbafe has urged Nigerians to be patriotic.
Agbaje, the Zonal Pastor in charge of the church in the South-South, said in Yenagoa last Sunday that the country would overcome its current challenges if citizens were patriotic.
The cleric also urged Nigerians to celebrate the country’s achievements, noting the country had achieved a lot in 53 years of its independence.
Agbaje said that the country was evolving into a great nation in spite of the challenges facing it.
”We attained independence some 53 years ago but nationhood eluded us then, but we are emerging into nationhood lately. “In the political realm, we had parties that were ethnic, but we now have parties with national outlook. The economy has grown in leaps and bounds compared to what it used to be, and our infrastructure is now more developed; we now have wider and better roads,” he said.
He also said that the church had lined up activities to celebrate Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary in the state, including a prayer session for unity and peace in the country.
The church, he said, was working to rekindle patriotism in Nigerians by celebrating the achievements from independence till date.
“We are embarking on a reach-out-Nigeria campaign in Bayelsa this year to celebrate our achievements in the education sector as well as in provision of infrastructure,” Agbaje said.
He said the church was embarking on various projects in the education sector to support development in Bayelsa.
“This year, we intend to provide furniture, markers and white boards in some schools to assist them. The church is also extending a hand of partnership to the state government to ensure good governance,” he added.
