RSG Plans New Parking System
Worried over indiscriminate parking of vehicles and illegal motor parks in the metropolis, the Rivers State Government has directed the state Ministry of Transport to embark on a new parking system in Port Harcourt.
? Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari told newsmen in Government House after the State Executive Council meeting that the council directed the ministry to revive and put to use the newly constructed parks, including review of?the public parking system in the state.
?She revealed that?the state?government was distraught over?the swelling congestion and indiscriminate parking in the city and environs, and urged the Ministry to ensure they are curbed to the barest minimum.
?Semenitari also disclosed plans by government to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Port Harcourt. According to her, the celebrations is expected to?commence in August with activities such as symposia, beauty pageantry, lectures and the unveiling of an iconic project.
?The commissioner expressed the State Government’s condolence to the nation’s first lady,?Dame Patience Jonathan over the?death of her foster mother, Mrs Charity Oba.
Said Semenitari,” Exco noted with regrets the unfortunate death of the mother of the wife of the President Exco condoled with the first lady and regrets that the state has lost a charitable lady.
?She prayed God to grant the first lady the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of her foster mother.
