Schools Get Uniforms, Chalks In Rivers
A community-based non-governmental organisation in Rivers State, People’s Encouragers Initiative (PEIN), has donated cartons of chalk and uniforms worth thousands of naira to some schools in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
The benefitting schools include Government Secondary School, Ogbo, Community Secondary School, Ula Upata and Comprehensive Secondary School, Odiemerenyi.
The Executive Director of the organisation, Apostle Chukwuma Abraham told newsmen during the ceremony that the exercise was to complement government’s effort in the educational development of the state. . Apostle Abraham further said that the group also planned to extend the gesture to other schools in Ahoada East, Ahoada West and Ogba/ Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Areas.
He used the occasion to disclose plans by the group to deploy volunteers to all schools in the four local government areas to check lateness and truancy among students.
In a similar development, the Peoples Encouragers Initiative has donated school uniforms to some indigent students in selected schools in Ahoada East.
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Director of the Organisation, Apostle Chukwuma Abraham said that the event was to promote qualitative education in the area.
He said that the group has also embarked on free computer training and application as well as musical talent development in the area.
“Today’s presentation of school uniforms to these selected school students was concerned by PEIN to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
“We believe that every assistance given to any child to acquire basic and qualitative education will help to develop the nation”, he said.
