Lecturer, Others Launch Three Books
A senior lecturer with the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt Rivers State, Dr Priye Iyalla-Amadi, Elechi Amadi and Paul Onoja have launched three books.
The books namely, Kayolara and Un Homme Averti, translations of books depicting Fulani cultures written in French but translated in English Language were authored by Dr Priye Iyalla-Amadi and Elechi Amadi, while the simplified literature hand book, A Compendium of Literary Genres and Terminologies was authored by Dr Priye Iyalla-Amadi and Mr Paul Onoja.
Speaking at the launching of the three books held at the old lecture hall, main campus of IAUE last Friday, the chairman of the occasion, Prof. Dele Osahogulu, lauded the authors for a work well done.
Prof Osahogulu described the books as very important especially for students of language and communication studies.
Unveiling the books, the acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE, represented by the vice chancellor, Prof Lawanson Briggs while congratulating the authors, especially Dr Priye Iyalla-Amadi of the French department, stated that the even was remarkable and urged other departments in the school to emulate same.
In their various expressions, the book reviewers, Prof Iheanacho Akakuru, Prof F.A. Ogunleke and Dr (Mrs) Funmi Adesanya, commended the trio-authors for their resilience and commitment in ensuring that their hard works came to reality.
They affirmed that the authors did not damage the work of the original authors during the translation and recommended the books for students of English and French studies.
Earlier in an interview, the co-authors, Dr Preye Iyalla Amadi and Elechi Amadi averred that it was its benefit to society that propelled them to translate the book written in French to English language adding that the book is all about the way and life of Fulani-Yoruba culture.
According to them, the world is multi-lingua and there is an advantage in speaking more than one language adding that the books teach how the society should be.
