Church Doles Out Free Kerosene To PH Residents
About 4,000 Port Harcourt residents last Wednesday besieged the premises of the Omega Power Ministry (OPM) to get their share of 10 litres of kerosene per person, out of the 4,000 litres of free kerosene product donated by the church.
Two tanker loads of kerosene were positioned at the church premises, while the beneficiaries were asked to queue up to avoid disorderliness.
Members, of the welfare department of the church were on ground to ensure that the beneficiaries were attended to without hitches.
Speaking with newsmen at the event, the General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, said the gesture was part of the objective of the Ministry to impact on the lives of the masses.
He said kerosene was an essential commodity needed by every family, adding that the provision of the product would assist the families of the beneficiaries to attend to their domestic needs.
Apostle Chinyere bemoaned the tendency of self appropriation on the part of most church leaders today, and pointed out that churches funds should be used to impact positively on the lives of the people.
He disclosed that the prime objective of OPM was to put smiles on the faces of the masses.
Some of the beneficiaries of the product that spoke with The Tide commended Apostle Chinyere for his populist agenda.
A beneficiary, Rose Nwaka, thanked the OPM leader for his gesture and called on other church leaders to emulate his style of evangelism which is inclined to attending to people’s needs.
Another beneficiary, Ukachi Amadi described Apostle Chinyere as “Godsent,”and prayed God to bless him so that he would give more to society. It would be recalled that recently, OPM commissioned a free restaurant in Port Harcourt, in addition to other existing social services such as free education, free health and free housing for the downtrodden.
