RSSDA Strategises To Develop Allanbiaka Crops
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), is partnering with international organisations for the development of Allanbiaka crops in the state.
The international organisations include, Novel of Tanzania and Ghana respectively.
The Agency’s Chairman, Rev. Precious Omuku who said this in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Port Harcourt said that the Agency is building on the result of researches carried out on the crop in Cameroon, Ghana, Tanzania and Kenya to establish plantations in Rivers State.
The RSSDA Chairman said that the development of the crop which is native to Nigeria would help the government to improve the condition of farmers in the state.
He said that the Agency which has already established a nursery in respect of the plant will soon begin the distribution of improved seedlings to farmers.
Also speaking, the General Manager Agric/Agro Allied and Business Development Rivers State sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Mr. Biedima Oliver said that Unilever Nigeria Limited has agreed to partner with the Agency to set the standard for quality of the crop.
Mr. Oliver said that the Agency is currently on the campaign to sensitive farmers on the value of the crop, Stressing that the situation is aimed at providing farmers with additional income.
Also speaking, the chairman of the Committee Allanbiaka Executive world Agronomy Nutriswiss Technology Center Miss Comelia Roettge said that farmers in the state will benefit from the tree if well developed in the state.
She said that the crop has been research on some countries, stressing that some Swiss companies are interested in the development of the crop.
