Commission Warns Against Staff Record Falsification
The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission has threatened to sanction any staff of the Unified Local Government Service Commission who indulges in record falsification.
Chairman of the commission Chief Azubuike Nmerukini who handed down the warning while addressing staff of Bonny Local Government Councils in Bonny described the act as criminal.
Chief Nmerukini who said that the practice is common among principal staff of the councils said that apart from applying the service rules, staff who indulge in such act would be prosecuted.
He wondered why only Junior and middle level staff are going on retirement, while principal staff have continued to remain in Service.
The commission’s chairman who was represented by the Commissioner incharge of Bonny Local Government Area in the commission, Barrister Paul Awoyesuku also assured that staff welfare would be given priority in the scheme of things.
In his welcome address, the Head of Local Government Bonny Local Government Council, Mr Singer Azubuike said that salaries of the 335 staff of the council have been paid up to date.
He also spoke of the excellent relationship between the staff and the political class in the areas while Junior Staff had their promotions and result released promptly.
He also said that the local government has acquired 45 seater mass transit marine boat to convey people from Bonny to Port Harcourt daily.
Meanwhile, the Bonny Local Government Council has promised to partner with the commission to promote staff welfare.
The council’s Chairman, Barrister Edward Pepple who said this during a courtesy call on him by the commission’s Chairman, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini, however, regretted the high rate of indiscipline among staff of the council.
