Commissioner Lauds PCRC Over Projects
The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Mr Muhammed Indabawa, has commended members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for their commitment in assisting the police perform their duties diligently and effectively.
Mr Indabawa made the commendation during the foundation laying ceremony and launching of N4.8 million fencing project at Olu Obasanjo Police Station, Port Harcourt.
According to him, the fencing of the police station would go a long way in ensuring security for the members of the station, describing their activities as second to none in all the commands he had served as commissioner of police.
The Rivers police boss, who described the state PCRC as the best in the country, said he is very proud of their quality initiatives, especially the recent Etim Inyang International lectures, and also promised to support PCRC programmes in the state.
In his speech, the state Chairman of PCRC, Hon Austen Young had reiterated that for the police to perform effectively, they need the support and assistance of the public, and assured that the body would continue to do its constitutional duties of partnering with the police to ensure community policing.
Also speaking, the Chairman of PCRC, Olu Obasanjo Police Division, Rev Godwin Ogbuji, stressed the need to fence the rear of the police barracks, citing the recent insecurity in the country.
Rev Ogbuji said the fencing project would help check land speculators from encroaching into the police barracks, and solicited the support of all to erect a fence to safeguard the area.
In his vote of thanks, the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Olu Obasanjo, Supol Akaninyene Unaam assured that with the support of all, he would live up to expectation, and commended PCRC, Olu Obasanjo Police Division for the project aimed at ensuring safety of the police in the area.
