Ex-Advert Manager Tasks Ikwerres On Dedicated Service
The former Advert Manager, Rivers state Newspaper Corporation, Mrs. K.N. Edeh, has charged Ikwerre workers and staff of the corporation to ensure that they leave a legacy of quality and dedicated service.
Mrs Edeh gave the charge at a sent forth party organised in her honour and three other retirees of Ikwerre extraction by the Ogbakor Ikwerre Association in RSNC last Thursday.
The ex-Advert Manager who was overwhelmed with the prevailing unity among the Ikwerres at The Tide told the audience that dedicated service was the only legacy that any worker could be remembered for at the end of the service.
She said that it was no longer business as usual for civil servants in the State to play truancy in line of their duties, and called on the workers to re-dedicate themselves to the ideals of good dedicated service.
Mrs Edeh who was honoured along with other retirees, Sir N.S. Oludi, Mr. Samuel Owhondah and Mr. Samuel Orlu, also spoke on the need for Ikwerre media workers to be their brothers’ keepers at all times.
Sir Oludi, a retired Chief Executive Officer (Wages) at RSNC reiterated the need for the Ikwerres to be instrument in building the corporation to an enviable height.
He said there was no short cut to success other than hard work and enjoined RSNC staff to work towards sustainable growth of the corporation.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the acting Chairman of Ogbakor Ikwerre in The Tide, Sir Sam Ovu-Eleonu had commended the contributions of the retirees to the growth of the corporation.
Sir Ovu-Eleonu explained that the party was meant to appreciate in a very little way what the retirees had put in service as well as thank God for their successful retirement in good health.
He pledged the cooperation and support of the Ikwerres in the efforts in making The Tide the true voice of the Niger Delta region.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of souvenirs to the retirees who, one after another, prayerfully wished the organisers well and fruitful service and retirement in the years to come.
