‘We Are Not Under Probe’
The Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, says it is not under probe for corrupt practices by the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment.
The Acting Managing Director of the Authority, Mr. Peter Ibeh who said this during a press briefing at the Authority’s office, Onne denied allegation that the authority spent N32.8 million for the purchase of items for Abuja office use.
Mr. Ibeh said that the sum of N21.5million was spent by the free zone authority in respect of the furnishing of its Abuja office and attributed the misinformation to the activities of one of the authority’s managers who was suspended for failing to produce his original certificates.
Also speaking, the manager in charge of Legal Department OGFZA, Mr Momoh Sani Shuaibu said that all purchasing contracts and other transactions carried out by the Free Zone Authority had the due approval of not only the ministry, but the Tenders Board and Due Process Office.
Also speaking, the Head of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Adekunle Ajayi said that contracts executed by the management has the approval of the Ministerial Tenders Board, stressing that in line with the one process office contracts were always advertised for competitive bidding.
