DAAR Communications Acquire Broadcast Equipment
DAAR Communications PLC operators of African Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power Radio (106.5 FM) has acquired equipment worth over N80 million to enhance the quality and output of the stations for listeners delight.
In a parley with newsmen in Port Harcourt over the weekend, the Director, Southern operations of DAAR Communciations, Mr. Mamode Akugha, said the organisation took the step to continue to play its pioneering role in independent broadcasting in Nigeria.
Mr Akugha explained that the overhauling of the station became necessary following the current competitive environment prevailing in Rivers State, stressing that the station has been re-loaded to give complete package to every radio listener beginning from September 1, 2011.
The Director Southern operations disclosed that having successfully purchased and installed a new 10 kilowatts transmitter with a total overhaul of the studio equipment, the station is ready to assume its pioneering status in radio broadcasting within the South-South region.
According to him, “starting from September 1, 2011, we shall begin full broadcasting with new vigour as well as new programmes that would keep the listeners permanently glued to the station 24 hours.”
Commenting on the sustainabil;ity of the newly acquired equipment, Mr. Akugha, said the establishment is learning its lessons by identifying mistakes and working assiduously to improve on the daily business.
On the issue of staff welfare, the Director of operations, explained that the management attaches great importance to the welfare and empowerment of staff through adequate training and expressed the hope that the establishment would reap from its investment.
