Rivers LGAs Share N3.146bn
The 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State got a total of N3,145,839,792.19 as their local government allocations for the month of December, last year.
In a press statement from the state Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs signed by its Commissioner, Dr T.W.Danagogo said Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas got the highest allocations, while Ogu-Bolo, Omuma and Oyigbo were the least in the list.
A breakdown of the figures show that Port Harcourt LGA netted the highest allocation with N205,473,679.50 followed by Obio/Akpor with N186,231,758.97, while Abua/Odual got N150,216,510.69.
Ogu-Bolo LGA on the lower cadre, got a paltry allocation of N100,980,948.96, followed by Omuma with N107,915,462.13 and Oyigbo with N109,326,801.17.
Special allocations were also made to the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission to the tune of N19,422,360.07 while the state Local Government Pension Board got N92,956,171.22 and the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers got N171, 530.137.60.
The commissioner in the statement stated that the publication of the monthly allocations was in line with the open door policy of the Rivers State Government and the drive to instill transparency and accountability at the grassroots.
The allocations were for the month of December but however, were paid last month as provided by the Joint Account Allocation of the Federal Government.
