Abe Tasks Ogoni Media Workers On Training
The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon. Magnus Ngei Abe, has called on the National Association of Ogoni Media Workers to embrace training as a Yardstick of promoting excellence and standards in professional practice.
Abe who was speaking as the guest of honour at the inauguration of the new exco of the association at Corpus Christi Cathedral, emphasised that only training and re-training can enable the media worker meet up in modern trend in media practice.
The SSG, who was represented by Ms Kadilo Brown, a media practitioner and Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Government House, described the media workers as advocates of change and urged them to be pivotal in promoting peace and unity in Ogoni land.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Solomon Lah, urged the Ogoni Media Workers, to act as agents of change and development in Ogoni land.
Out going President, Sing Williamson, tasked the new exco on the need for unity of purpose and cautioned against distractions and wranglings which were the bane of the past exco.
In his post inauguration address, the newly sworn-in president, Joe Visangha said the association would serve as a mirrow against bad governance in Ogoni, and encouraged leaders who are doing well through merit awards.
