RSG Warns Petroleum Dealers Against Sharp Practices
As the yuletide approaches, stakeholders in the petroleum products’ distribution network have been warned against any form of sharp practices that could lead to hardship for the citizenry and residents of Rivers State.
Dr. Dawari George, Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, gave the warning while inaugurating members of the reconstituted Petroleum Monitoring Task force on behalf of the state governor, in Port Harcourt.
The Energy commissioner assured that enabling laws and guidelines would be fine-tuned to eliminate clash between the operatives of both the Task Force and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), pointing out that the state government attached great importance to the availability and proper distribution of petroleum products at all times because of its role in the local economy.
While allaying any fears of delay in payment of their allowances, as was the case before he took office, Dr. George said issues of sharp practices by the members of the task force would be viewed very seriously and that in fact, “if in one month, I find 10 cases of sharp practices, I will be forced to dissolve the entire group”, adding that no distortion in the distribution of products would be tolerated.
Responding to the trust and responsibility placed on him, the Chairman of Petroleum Task Force (PTF), Mr. Gogo Fiberesima, described his appointment as a second coming and that he would use his experience to facilitate better operations.
He demanded co-operation with the authorities of the Ministry and the leadership of the Task force from the members and cautioned against uncouth and rude behaviour to members of the public.
