Cleric Tasks Govt On Security
The Arm of Hope World Outreach, a charitable Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has been inaurugrated in Port Harcourt with a call on the federal and state governments to provide adequate security and protection for the citizens.
Founder of Abundant Life Evangel Mission (ALEM), Apostle Eugene Ogu, while speaking at the ceremony, said it was not enough to send relief materials to victims of crisis after “the deed had been done and lives lost”.
Apostle Ogu observed that it was more helpful for government to reach out to crisis-ridden areas and see things for itself, just as it should ensure enough security to avoid the escalation of such disasters.
He noted that the Arm of Hope World Outreach has taken the responsibility of going to most affected places where help has been rendered to victims. Listing such places as Jos, Maidugiri and Kano as worst hit.
AHWO, according to him, has assisted several people, including widows, orphans and the less privileged, while millions of naira had been spent on providing them with relief materials.
Also speaking, a guest speaker, Dr. Kate Okparaeke commended Apostle Ogu and his wife for what they are doing in people’s lives through the outfit, pointing out that giving attracts God’s blessing to mankind.
According to her, the inauguration of the arm of hope world outreach is another milestone in the history of ALEM.
She stressed the need for Christians to sow seed in order to receive from God.
In her welcome address, the national coordinator of the Outreach Pastor Milly Ogu explained that the organisation was targeted at alms giving, delivering of the oppressed, rendering humanitarian services as well as restoring hope for the hopeless.
