Ake Wades Into Andoni Crisis
The executive of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has directed ward chairmen in Andoni Local Government Area to bury the hatchet and work with the party chairman, in the area, Victor Ere and the secretary, Hon Paul Ayagwung.
The directive was handed down Wednesday by the state PDP boss, Chief G.U. Ake after a reconciliation meeting between the state PDP executive and Andoni ward chairmen forum.
But in their reaction the ward chairmen said the state PDP executive was expected to thoroughly investigate allegation against the Andoni PDP chieftain before arriving at a decision.
One of the ward chairmen, Mr. David Eyoka said the directive was against the spirit of the party constitution, adding that the ward chairmen forum is resolute because the activities of Victor Ere and Paul Ayagwung are capable of dividing the party in the area.
Hon Eyoka noted that if the activities of Hon Ere Victor and the secretary, Paul Ayagwung are unchecked it could impact negatively on PDP in the forthcoming 2011 election in the area. The PDP ward chairmen declared that they would not work with the sacked Andoni PDP chairmen, Hon Victor Ere and the secretary, Hon Ayagwung, if due process is not followed in the matter.
On the threat by the state party chairman to discipline any person who disobeyed his directive, Atton Eyoka said the unity of the party in the area is paramount.
