Labour LeaderAdvocates Job Creation For Youths
Against the backdrop of incessant youth reistiveness in the country, a labour leader in Rivers State has advocated a legislation that would provide job opportunities for unemployed youths in the country.
The state Chairman of Nigeria Association of Welders, Comrade Solomon Wosu made the call during the third edition of Public Enlightenment Campaign held at Orogbum Civic Centre Ogbum-nu-Abali, Port Harcourt, recently.
The programme which has as its theme, “the effect of Youth Restiveness and social Vices in Communities, Society at Large”, was organised by Comrade Wosu as part of activities to mark this year’s worker’s day and also to contribute to the development of the nation at large.
Comrade Nwosu stated that youth restiveness has become a threat to the potential of the society, adding that it needs a concerted efforts by the government and individuals to eliminate it in the society.
“This act has destroyed our youths in Niger Delta and affect the economic growth of the region and has given over communities bad image”, it would prevent foreign investors from investing in our communities because no responsible investors will want to do business in area that is prove to violence. It is our responsibility to make our society better”, he stated.
The labour leader called on Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic and religious differences to assist the government to build a peaceful environment that can promote development in the society.
He noted that the marginalisation and neglects against the youth by those in authority are the root causes of the youth restiveness in the society, adding that a collective efforts involving parents, teachers would help to curb the social menace in the society.
The state chairman of
Welders Association used the opportunity to call on the state government to support his skill acquisition training centre to rehabilitate the youths in order to make them participate in the governance of the country.
