The new Gbenemene of Babbe Kingdom, King Lenu T Saro Igbara has vowed to build on the legacies of his late father, King Mark Igbara as he assumes the throne of his late father.
The new king who spoke to The Tide in an interview, Thursday said although he did not wish his father dead to ascend the throne, his late father had made him the paramount ruler of Nortern, Bori.
King Lenu explained that in Ogoni kingdom, one cannot be a Gbenemene except you are once a paramount ruler in the land, stating that even though his late father must have made enemies during his reign, he would make moves to work with the guidance of his advisers who constitute the Council of Chiefs.
He said his ascendancy to the throne was properly done as he went through the Bari-Ayo royal house which is the official king makers in the Khana Kingdom.
On his new position as Gbenemene, he said his era would strive to change obnoxious practices in his domain and resuscitate institutions which his late father did not focus attention.
On the issue of traditional rulers romancing with government, the monarch maintained that government and chiefs are supposed to work together to secure their domains, but at the expence of their subjects.
