Organisers Crave Support For Ekpeye League
Secretary of Ekpeye Domestic League, Mr Bryan Mannah has called on sports lovers and well-meaning individuals within and outside Ekpeye-land in Ahoada East local Government Area, Rivers State to throw their weight behind the on-going domestic football league in the area.
Mr Mannah, who made the call while speaking to sports journalists recently, noted with regret that grassroots football in the area has not been given the desired boost, stating that grassroots sports need sponsors.
He disclosed that Ekpeye Domestic League was conceived to identify local talents in soccer and also to create opportunity to build wall of friendship among youths in the area.
He commended the spirit exhibited by the teams and prayed for a very successful league that will stand the test of time, noting that the players were good materials for the state and national leagues.
The secretary however stated that availability of competent referees, medical assistants were some of the challenges facing the tournament.
According to Mannah, “observers see the league as “promising in terms of its organisation and expect it to be a rallying point for football loving youths in Ekpeye land.”
The organisers further called on the traditional rulers to support the tournament as a way of promoting the youths for a better tomorrow.
