RSG Assures On Youth Dev
The Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development says it is determined to facilitate the positive, productive and constructive development of Rivers youths, through the implementation of the Rivers State Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI).
The state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Felix Nwaeke, who stated this in a statement signed by Associate Director, Development Leadership Institute (DLI), Mr. Nyema Onunwor, disclosed that the ministry is set to launch a youth leadership programme, future leaders and change agents programmes in collaboration with DLI and Pamela D. Moore and Associates, in Port Harcourt, tomorrow at the auditorium of the Ministry of Justice, state secretariat complex.
The statement said that Mr. Nwaeke emphasised the importance of instilling positive values in young persons, saying: “history teaches us what happens when societies fail to properly invest in their youths, to instill in them the values that foster social cohesion and make available the necessary opportunities for their growth, advancement and productive contribution to society”.
The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG) Mr. Magnus Abe is expected to give the keynote address at the occasion billed for 11am for young Rivers State indigenes between the ages of 18 and 35 years, drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, through a competitive application process.
According to the statement, the programme is expected to last six months.
