Widow Petitions CP Over Alleged Murder Plot
A widow in Rumuokwuta, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has raised alarm over attempt by her step children to terminate her life.
The woman, Mrs. Esther Ogborama, who now takes refuge at an undisclosed area of Port Harcourt has sent a petition to the Rivers State Police Commissioner for her safety as her late husband’s children numbering ten are bent on killing her.
The petition from her lawyer, P.S.C. Agada and Associate based in Port Harcourt and addressed to the Police Commissioner said since she got married to her husband in 2000, the step children had continued to make life miserable for her.
The petition, which was dated 1st December and titled, “Forceful seizure of properties, constant Threat to life, Assault and Battery of Mrs Esther Ogborama by Mr Precious Ogborama and His Brothers and sisters’ said she started encountering problems with the step children since she moved into the family and that all attempts by the elders of the community and late husband to make peace between them have been unfruitful. She alleged that at several occasions, the children who turned her to their demostic slave beat her and poured pepper solution on her.
Apart from turning her to a punching bag, the step children have chased her out of the house the late husband gave to her and threatened to kill her.
She also narrated to The Tide that the problem got to its climax few weeks ago when the family held the burial ceremony of her late husband, the children excluded her from the burial arrangements an indication that she was not a member of the family.
The widow further alleged that on the fateful Friday the husband was to be buried, the step children chased her with matchets out of the house given to her by her late husband and buried him in her house without any plan to relocate her.
“They buried my late husband in the house he gave me in 2006 and said I am not a member of the family.
They blocked all entrances to the house such that I cannot enter,” she stated.
They also chased away my relations and friends who came to assist me with the burial and threatened to deal ruthlessly with them if they do not leave the compound.
