Bayelsa AC Wants Holistic Actions On Amnesty
Bayelsa State Chapter of the Action Congress (AC) has urged the forum of state governors to canvass for an affirmative and proactive step in solving the Niger Delta question, rather than engaging in series of rhetorics and endless meeting with no result.
The party through its secretary, Mr Miriki Ebikibina stated in a press statement that governors did not need further meetings to recommend solutions to numerous problems confronting the country at large and the Niger Delta in particular.
On the amnesty and deregulation issue, Mr Ebikibina said that even though his party was in support of actions taken so far, the Governors’ Forum needs to consult widely with other stakeholders from the petroleum sector before giving their support.
Reacting on the re-naming of the Ekoli Bridge in Swali – Yenagoa after the Vice President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the AC said the action was commendable judging from the facts that as a deputy, and later Governor of the State, he contributed a lot the development of the state.
The party, however, wants the state government to reverse the naming of the proposed cargo airport in the state after President Musa Yar’Adua to reflect the name of an illustrious son of the state or from the Niger Delta region.
